Community ispart of the work
For five years, Carlton Pulley has supported Southeast Raleigh students, families, and schools with practical help at the start of each school year.
- years serving Southeast Raleigh schools
- backpacks with school supplies each year
- backpacks provided to local students in all
The work began by asking Walnut Creek Elementary and Southeast Raleigh High School what students needed at the start of the year. The answer was practical: supplies, shoes, and a fresh haircut. We have returned every August since.
Backpacks
About 200 backpacks with school supplies each year, roughly 1,000 in all, for students at Walnut Creek Elementary and Southeast Raleigh High School.
Sneakers
New sneakers for students at the start of the school year.
Haircuts
Free haircuts for students at an outdoor barbershop before the first day of school.
The goal
“A thriving, growing community of people who had a chance to succeed because of our efforts and the efforts of others.”
Educator support · December 2025
